Algae - a slimy solution to climate change?

The world’s appetite for Australian coal and gas is growing. Demand for energy may increase by as much as 40 per cent by 2030. China alone is building the equivalent of Australia’s coal-fired power system three times over each year.

The consensus is in - climate change is happening - and Australia has to prepare for the consequences.  But how do we reduce our CO2 emissions rapidly and affordably?

One method includes capturing CO2 as it is produced at existing coal-fired power stations and storing or processing it to prevent it reaching the atmosphere.

But will it be enough? How does it work? Can we even turn waste CO2 into a new fuel source?

In this event we’ll explore the process of biological solutions to carbon capture and storage. including using algae bioreactors.
